Official Poker Rules
The game of poker is definitely not an easy think. For many newcomers to the game, it can seem daunting and even a little tiresome at times when you have to remember all the official poker rules and regulations as well as learning the different poker hand combinations.
Luckily it is not completely necessary to learn the whole handbook of official poker rules by heart. If you remember most of them loosely or know them through experience at playing poker this should be more than enough.
Furthermore,, you will find that unless you are playing a home game (in which case you won’t need the official poker rules at hand), you will be referring any and all disputes to the floor manager or other such official person to arbiter.
However, especially in such a situation your knowledge of the official poker rules will come in handy for yourself. The arbiter will make the last decision of course, but still you will know at least what he is talking about. The main thing that you need to know of the official poker rules in these cases is that you need to abide by the arbitration given at the time.
If there is a discrepancy in the arbitration, there is also a rule in the official poker rules book to take care of this problem as well. You also need to be aware that poker rules might change from game to game and place to place. Therefore you should know exactly where your stand on this front is. Some rules are universal anyway.
There is only one place where there is really a uniform book containing the official poker rules – during championship games such the World Series of Poker. During these games,, the rule book is the last word and all arbitrations etc. need to be referred to this. All arbiters of these games need to be well versed with the official poker rules, in order to properly oversee the game.
What you will notice while gathering poker experience is that not all poker rules are defined in a cut and dried manner. There are some rules of which the interpretation is up to the arbiter. Sometime this also causes problems, but generally not very often.
Just remember when you are learning to play poker, that although the official poker rules are an important part of the game, and that although you really should have at least a certain level knowledge of them, they are not what you should be concentrating on.
Instead you should focus on learning the game inside out and leave the arbitration of the game and the official poker rules to people whose job it is to do so. In this way you will find that you have a better game and that you are enjoying yourself more and more.
